Foundation and General Education
Courses at Sydney TAFE are delivered by qualified and industry-experienced staff at one of our college locations or at your workplace.
The courses provided below are some of the courses for your industry area that can be tailored for delivery to your staff.
The Course in Aboriginal Cultural Education provides a framework which can be utilised by a range of service providers to build the capacity of staff at all levels to work effectively with Aboriginal people and communities.
The program is specifically called “Aboriginal Cultural Education” to differentiate it from existing “cultural awareness” programs, as it has an emphasis on developing skills that can be applied by participants in their work roles, rather than raising awareness.
The course is competency based and participants must provide evidence to be considered “competent” in each unit, marking a shift away from programs that require attendance only. For example, the evidence may involve developing a list of practical strategies that the individual can apply within their work role.

This unit provides the skills and knowledge a vocational trainer or assessor needs to identify the LLN requirements of a training course or workplace environment as well as determining the LLN skills of their participant group.
It raises awareness around the use of resources and strategies to meet the needs of the participant group and it gives trainers insight into using specialist LLN support when it is required.
This unit will also provide you with ways to plan effective delivery that can engage participants at all levels. Workplace supervisors doing this unit can expect to acquire strategies that would enhance better workplace training outcomes for employees.
Sessions will be interactive and provide participants with some authentic experiences you can take back and use in your own training programs
