This course covers the necessary work, health and safety knowledge / skills to undertake work tasks within the construction industry.

Asbestos Awareness

Do you or your colleagues come across Asbestos in your line of work? Do your employees understand the licensing requirements for asbestos removal and the relevant site procedures?

This course provides the skills and knowledge necessary to inform managers, controllers of work premises, trade persons and employees to identify suspected Asbestos containing materials and the appropriate actions to take.

Enter and work in confined spaces

Do your employees know how to plan for, prepare for and work in confined spaces? Do your colleagues understand best practice around exiting and clean up?

This course is for employees working in operational roles and undertaking work in confined spaces.

High Risk Work Licence Assessment - Work Cover

Do you need your employees to complete high risk work but they don’t have the relevant licence? Sydney TAFE is approved by Work Cover to deliver training and assessment in NSW in a range of areas.

Licence to Perform Dogging

This licenced course will prepare your colleagues to perform slinging techniques, selection and inspection of lifting gear and/or the directing of the crane operator in the movement of the load when the load is out of view of the operator.

Licence to Perform Rigging Basic Level

Do your projects involve basic rigging work? Have your staff been appropriately trained and do they hold the relevant NSW Work Cover licence?

This course prepares participants for basic rigging associated with movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists, placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, perimeter safety screens and shutters; and cantilever crane loading platforms.

Pre-requisite - CPCCLDG3001A  Licence to perform dogging

Operate elevated work platforms

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively operate some types of elevated work platforms (EWPs) in a variety of different terrains and situations to access isolated work areas. The unit includes locating, setting up, operating and shutting down EWPs.

Read and interpret plans and specifications

Can your team confidently read and interpret plans and specifications appropriate to construction procedures?

This course prepares employees to identify types of plans and drawings, their functions, how to recognise commonly used symbols and abbreviations, how to identify key features and specifications alongside an understanding of written job specifications and the recognition of document status and amendment detail.


Sydney TAFE will work alongside your company to develop a course that best suits your needs across a range of skills / knowledge around waterproofing.

These topics may include preparing for waterproofing processes and surfaces, installation, handling materials, waterproofing application and clean up.

Work safely at heights

Are your employees required to work on projects where they are above heights of 1.5 metres?

This course prepares your staff with the outcomes required to work safely on construction sites and where fall protection measures are required.

Work safely in the construction industry

This course will equip your staff with the basic WHS knowledge required prior to undertaking designated work tasks within any of the sectors within the construction industry.

Successful participants will be eligible for the NSW General Construction Induction Card.
