The Apprentice is a licensed training restaurant that promotes and nurtures food service excellence. We are open to the public for lunch and dinner on weekdays, during term time.
The Apprentice Restaurant at Sydney TAFE is located at Level 7, Building E, opposite the ABC in Harris Street Ultimo.

Make your booking by phoning 02 9217 5527 between 9:00am–5:00pm Monday to Friday or book online. Please allow at least 48 hours for booking confirmation.
The Apprentice is available for conferences and private functions such as cocktail parties, weddings, retirement celebrations and other special events.

Please note that all items include GST in the cost and our prices may vary for special functions or events. The menu at our restaurant is carefully prepared and designed by our commercial cookery students and changes on a daily basis.
- Lunch sitting time: 12:00–2:00pm
- Monday – Saturday. Please refer to the online booking tool for prices on your booking date.
- Dinner sitting time: 6:30-9:00pm
- Monday – Friday. Please refer to the online booking tool for prices on your booking date.
All bookings are considered tentative until payment is received in full.
Final numbers are required two weeks prior to the function, and charges will be based on guaranteed numbers or final headcount, whichever is greater.
The Apprentice restaurant is fully licensed, BYO is not accepted.
Price and payment
Prices and payment terms and conditions:
- Prices include GST and cover meals only (drinks not included).
- Prices may be varied due to seasonal fluctuation or special event.
- Immediate payment is required if less than two weeks prior to booking date.
- 25% down payment is required for booking of 15 guests or more.
- We accept payment by cheque, Visa and MasterCard. We do not accept cash, Amex or Diners card.
- For payment by cheque, please make payable to “The Apprentice, TAFE NSW – Ultimo College”.
No refund can be made for notice less than 7 days before your function.
Please advise us of any special dietary requirements at the time of booking.
Commencement and vacating of The Apprentice
The customer agrees to begin and vacate The Apprentice at the scheduled times of the function:
- Lunch 12:00pm for 12:30pm seating, 2:00pm conclusion
- Dinner 6:30pm for 7:00pm seating, 9:00pm conclusion.
Sydney TAFE, Ultimo College will not accept responsibility for the loss or damage to any equipment or merchandise left on the premises including motor vehicles prior , during, or after the function.
Customers are responsible for the orderly behaviour of themselves and their guests. Sydney TAFE, Ultimo College reserves the right to intervene if necessary.
Displays and signage
No items are to be attached or pinned to the walls or any area in the restaurant, without prior approval.
Customers will assume responsibility for any and all damages caused during the function by any of their guests, whether in The Apprentice or in any part of Sydney TAFE, Ultimo College Grounds.
Fire, life and safety
Sydney TAFE, Ultimo College retains the right to adjust any set-up to ensure fire, life and safety codes are not breached
Responsible service of alcohol
Sydney TAFE staff and students strictly adhere to Responsible Service of Alcohol policies.
No person under the age of 18 years will be served with alcohol.
A valid proof of age identification or driver licence must be provided when requested.
Persons who are intoxicated or showing signs of intoxication will not be served alcohol and will also be asked to leave the premises.
A range of low and non-alcoholic beverages are available.
