Open to the public

The Apprentice is a licensed training restaurant that promotes and nurtures food service excellence. We are open to the public for lunch and dinner on weekdays, during term time.

Location

The Apprentice Restaurant at Sydney TAFE is located at Level 7, Building E, opposite the ABC in Harris Street Ultimo.

Make your booking by phoning 02 9217 5527 between 9:00am–5:00pm Monday to Friday or book online. Please allow at least 48 hours for booking confirmation.

Standard bookings: times and menu pricing

Please note that all items include GST in the cost and our prices may vary for special functions or events. The menu at our restaurant is carefully prepared and designed by our commercial cookery students and changes on a daily basis.

Lunch

  • Lunch sitting time: 12:00–2:00pm
  • Monday – Wednesday, $22 per person – 3 courses (entrée, main and dessert).
  • Thursday – Friday, $24 per person – 3 courses (entrée, main and dessert).

Dinner

  • Dinner sitting time: 6:30-9:00pm
  • Monday – Wednesday, $30 per person – 4 courses (appetizer, entrée, main and dessert) with 1 drink included.
  • Thursday – Friday, $34 per person – 4 courses (appetizer, entrée, main and dessert) with 1 drink included.

Conditions for standard bookings

  • All bookings are considered tentative until payment is received in full.
  • Immediate payment is required if less than two weeks prior to booking date.
  • Prices Include GST and cover for meals
  • We accept payment by cheque, Visa and MasterCard. We do not accept cash, Amex or Diners card.
  • Please advise of any special requests or dietary requirements at the time of making your booking.
  • The Apprentice restaurant is fully licensed, BYO is not accepted.

Group bookings: times and menu pricing

As we are a training restaurant, a food and beverage package applies to all group bookings of eleven (11) or more people and bookings are required for groups of eleven (11) or more people. Please note the price may vary for special events and functions.

Lunch group package

  • Monday - Wednesday,  $32 per person – 3 course meal (entrée, main and dessert) and 2 beverages. 
  • Thursday - Friday, $34 per person – 3 course meal (entrée, main and dessert) and 2 beverages.
  • Lunch time for groups: 12:00-2:00pm

Dinner group package

  • Dinner 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm.
  • Monday - Wednesday, $40 per person – 4 course meal (appetizer, entrée, main and dessert) with 3 beverages included.
  • Thursday - Friday, $44 per person – 4 course meal (appetizer, entrée, main and dessert) with 3 beverages included. 

Conditions for group bookings

  • All bookings are considered tentative until payment is received in full
  • A 25% deposit is required with the balance paid in full two weeks prior to the booking date
  • Immediate payment is required if less than two weeks prior to booking date.
  • Prices Include GST and cover for meals
  • Final numbers are required two weeks prior to the booking date and charges will be based on guaranteed numbers or final headcount, whichever is greater
  • Your booking will be cancelled and places released to other customers if payment is not received in full two weeks prior to the booking date
  • We accept payment by cheque, Visa and MasterCard. We do not accept cash, Amex or Diners card.
  • Please advise of any special requests or dietary requirements at time of making your booking.
  • The Apprentice restaurant is fully licensed, BYO is not accepted.

Cancellations

  • Notice of more than 7 days – the total amount paid will be refunded
  • Notice 4-6 days – 50% of the total amount paid will be refunded
  • Notice of 3 days or less – due to the cost incurred at this stage, no refund can be made; therefore the amount paid will be forfeited

The Apprentice is available for conferences and private functions. Please contact us by phone 02 9217 5527 or email si.theapprenticeattafensw.edu.au for available dates, times and pricing.

Special requests and dietary requirements

Every effort is made to accommodate guest requests however, portions of individual dishes are limited as this is a training environment. Please advise of any special requests or dietary requirements at the time of making your booking.

Please note that there may be traces of peanuts, nuts, milk, gluten, eggs or milk, soy, sesame, fish and shellfish in the dishes on the menu. If you have a food allergy, a food sensitivity, or a special dietary requirement, please inform the Function Coordinator when making your booking so that consideration can be given in the preparation of appropriate food for you.

Guest chefs and special events are hosted throughout the year to challenge our students and deliver a unique dining experience for the general public.

From our original site at East Sydney in the guise of the Colonial Dining Room to our current roof-top incarnation, our award-winning restaurant and hospitality training courses have produced some of Australia's leading chefs.

Today's students continue our tradition of excellence with the fresh and fabulous dining experience known as The Apprentice restaurant. Students design the menu and prepare, cook and serve under the supervision of our highly-experienced, professional teaching staff.
