Our goal is to help you improve your English for a better career or for further study and prepare you for your international career in your chosen field.

When you successfully complete a Certificate level course at SITEC you are eligible for direct pathways into many vocational and degree courses in Australia. You may also be eligible for a professional internship.
If you are not sure what vocational or degree course you would like to study, enrol in your English course at SITEC first and we can provide advice and information to assist you in your decision.
You can start at any level and on any type of eligible visa, depending on your circumstances.
Some of the English language courses have a specific entry point, but you can start studying at SITEC with any level of English and we do not require any international language test scores to enter any of the English language courses. You will be tested before you start studying with us and will be placed in the class most appropriate for your current English level in accordance with your test result and study goals.
We can help you by:
- Reviewing your English level
- Suggesting an appropriate study plan based on your goals
- Determining how long you need to study English so that you have the minimum English qualification required for further study.

Begin your study with an 'English-only' program to gain an English language certificate. This will give you the qualification for, and the time to think about, your next course of study. Save on fees when you complete your course. If you enrol in a TAFE NSW course within 6 months of finishing an 'English-only' program, you may be eligible for an "English + TAFE" package fee discount. If the package fees are lower than the fees you paid, we will then transfer the difference towards your TAFE course (conditions apply).
Our English programs meet the TAFE NSW English language entry requirements and provide preparation for a wide range of courses at TAFE NSW Sydney Institute. When you complete the TAFE Certificate III in Advanced "English for Further Study" you may apply for a range of higher-level courses without needing to provide an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test result or any other international test result.
International students study alongside Australian students and may choose from over 120 certificate, diploma and advanced diploma courses in areas such as: building and construction, business, accounting, marketing, advertising, information technology, engineering, interpreting, fashion, beauty, design, events, tourism, hospitality, health and sports, dental studies, nursing, nutrition and property services.
See the latest Sydney TAFE International Student Guide for a full list of vocational courses.
Save on fees by enrolling in a "TAFE Package" - enrol in your English course and then another TAFE course and your English fees will be reduced (not available with other promotional offers).
Credit towards university study
You may receive credit for your TAFE NSW qualifications towards some university courses. Some TAFE NSW Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas are part of the "TAFE NSW Diploma-to-Degree" (D2D) program, where you can get up to 1 year's credit towards a university degree course. A number of other Australian higher education colleges also accept Sydney Institute TAFE English Centre Certificates for entry into their courses.
Pathways to high school in Australia
Achieving a Higher School Certificate (HSC) in Australia provides many opportunities for our students to continue their education in colleges and universities around Australia and other countries. The "English Preparation for High School" course prepares students aged 15 to 18 to enter Australian government high schools in New South Wales in Years 9, 10, or 11.
The benefits of completing "English Preparation for High School" at our Sydney Institute TAFE English Centre (SITEC) include:
- Easy and convenient access for our students - the Centre is open 50 weeks a year
- Experienced, professional teachers - our High School Preparation teachers have qualifications and experience in both High School and/or TESOL teaching. They are specialised in teaching international students, rather than students from migrant families who already have a support network in Australia and have different issues and circumstances.
- A safe and secure campus with 24 hours a day, 7 days a week security and first aid offcers onsite. Our SITEC teachers receive regular training in Child Protection Legislation and have a police check before employment.
- Students learn language and study skills for specific subjects such as maths, science, computer science, literature and more, in modern classrooms with interactive whiteboards and with plenty of computer access available.

A professional internship in Australia is an excellent way to kick-start your career by getting your first professional work experience, or to add an international dimension to your resume.
Australian Internships organises internships in companies and organisations where you will be able to gain quality professional experience in line with your recent degree, a tertiary course in which you are currently enrolled or your work experience. This can also provide an opportunity to establish connections in your chosen industry and to better understand how it operates in Australia.
Not on a student visa and want a less formal English study experience? There are flexible options available.
Enrol in any level of English and continue through the program. When you successfully complete a level and continue studies within three months, you may progress to the next level without paying a second application fee. You can start any Monday and may also pay in shorter instalments with potentially lower fees.
If you successfully complete a level and then continue studies within three months, it may be possible progress to the next level and you will not need to pay the application fee when you return.
If you achieve a pathway qualification , you will be able to make a decision on your further study. Our experienced teachers and counselors will help you find the information you need to make your choices.
Holiday programs for groups of schoolchildren of any age, accompanied by adult carers if they are under 18 years old, can be organised to include English language tuition, cultural experience, homestay with Australian families and recreational activities. Young visitors can meet their peers from other countries who study in our English Preparation for High School program, to enhance their inter-cultural experience.
Short programs during college vacation times can be focused on specific academic areas and/or skills for overseas college or university students and staff. Alternatively, they can concentrate on the development of general communication skills in a more relaxed study environment, combined with a cultural and recreational program. Homestay with Australian families can enrich the Australian cultural experience and provide more opportunities for practicing everyday English.
