The library offers introductory tours and a number of workshops for groups and individuals.
The library conducts orientation tours for new and returning students. These class tours provide:
- An overview of the services and facilities provided the library, and
- Basic instruction on the use of the library catalogue.
Each tour is tailored to the study area of the group.
Available throughout the term, these are designed to enhance your information seeking skills. They are tailored to all subject areas and information needs and include:
Librarians assist students in defining, locating and assessing information using both printed and electronic sources.
Referencing and plagiarism
In this workshop, students find out what plagiarism is, how best to avoid it and how to create accurate references and bibliographies for assignments.
Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)
This workshop demonstrates the many features of the ABS website and how to locate relevant statistical and census information.
Using online databases
The Library subscribes to various online databases covering many subjects. You can access journal articles, standards, eBooks and streamed video using your DEC username and password.
Training is provided on how to search these databases effectively to find information relevant to your needs.

An interlibrary loan service is available for materials held at other TAFE NSW libraries. Conditions apply.
