Specialised facilities

Specialised, purpose-built training facilities at Sutherland College – Loftus Campus include our training restaurant, massage clinic and fitness centre.

Training restaurant

The Embark Restaurant is a fully-licensed training restaurant for the next generation of chefs and hospitality personnel.

Hospitality students at Sutherland College, Loftus Campus prepare and serve the finest array of quality meals and beverages for you to enjoy – for a fraction of ordinary restaurant prices!

Make a reservation at the Embark Restaurant for high tea, lunch or dinner.

Fitness centre

Futures Fitness Centre is located on Level 2 of Building G, Loftus TAFE.

The Centre offers the following services and facilities to members:

  • Aerobics room, hydraulic circuit facilities , weights room and cardio theatre
  • Group exercise classes including yoga, boxing, spin and boot camp
  • Rehabilitation clinic -*when advertised and subject to conditions
  • Exercise for older adults
  • Personal training
  • Client screening, orientation and programming - programs tailored for individual needs
  • 20% discount for Student Association members.

There is also a state-of-the-art fitness testing laboratory – ask for a tour.

Lockers are also available, please bring your own padlock.

Opening hours 

Futures Fitness Centre is open all year except for the week between Christmas and New Year.

General opening hours: Monday to Friday — 7:30am-10:30am and 4:00pm-7:30pm.

Holiday opening hours: Monday to Friday — 7:30am-10:30am and 3:00pm-6:00pm.

Before you train

When you begin, you will be asked to complete a short ‘Pre-exercise questionnaire’. Your fitness/lifestyle goals will then be discussed if you require assistance with a fitness program. Males over 35 and females over 45 and those with certain pre-existing illnesses/injuries, will be requested to obtain medical clearance before commencing an exercise program.

Your session at Futures Fitness may be supervised by a Loftus TAFE student instructor. Your cooperation is sought so that valuable ‘on-the-job’ experience can be gained by our students.

What to bring

To use the gym facilities please bring with you:

  • Appropriate clothing, footwear and a towel
  • Water bottle
  • A padlock for your locker.

For your own safety and the safety of others, you will not be allowed to use the facilities unless you are equipped with proper footwear, appropriate clothing and a towel. There are certain other WH&S requirements which will be explained on your first visit. For the comfort and safety of all, bags are not allowed in the gym and aerobics room. No responsibility can be taken by Futures Fitness staff for clients’ personal valuables (e.g. wallets, mobile phones, sunglasses), these are the sole responsibility of the owner. Lockers are provided on the first floor ‘G’ Block, near the outdoor courts.

Membership fee payment methods

We do not accept cash payments. You can pay your gym fees by:

  • Credit/debit card
  • Cheque
  • Money order.

Please pay at the Campus Cashier’s Office, Ground Floor, Building G or see the Operations Manager in Building G, Room 2.06.

Massage therapy clinic

A student massage therapy clinic is located in purpose-built facilities on the ground floor of Block F, Loftus TAFE.

Gift vouchers

Gift vouchers are available for relaxation massage or remedial massage.

Appointments are essential.  Opening hours vary throughout the teaching year. Please contact the clerical assistant on 02 9710 5429 for our curent hours.

About your appointment

Appointments are essential. Your appointment time includes consultation and a 50 minute massage. Student therapists are rostered on a rotational basis. Clients can request a preferred gender, but cannot request particular students. The supervising teacher will enter the cubicle to check on the therapist's treatment and may discuss techniques or answer questions from the student during your massage.
