Using the library

Gymea Campus library provides a range of resources for you to access. We offer online databases, eResources, research guides, orientation tours, workshops and facilities. We are here to help you navigate your way to great results.

Opening hours

Term time, Monday – Friday8:45am – 6:00pm

Weekends and public holidays

The library is closed on weekends and public holidays.

Please note that Ultimo College Library is open on Saturdays during term.

Vacation Hours

  • Mon 25/6/18 - Fri 6/7/18, 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Mon 9/7/18 - Fri 20/7/18, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Return to regular term time opening hours on Mon 23/7/18.


To borrow you will need a current TAFEcard which is issued at enrolment.  If you don’t have a TAFEcard you will need to go to Student Administration at your college – take proof of enrolment and identification with you.

You may borrow up to 15 items.

Loans are for two weeks on most items.

Returning items

During library hours: Items can be returned into the chute at the front desk.

After library hours: Items can be returned into the return chute on the right hand side of the Kingsway entry into Building A.

Overdue charges and penalties

The library is committed to the fair sharing of resources between library users. For this reason the library has a penalty process for late returns.

Borrowing privileges will be suspended as soon as an item is overdue. You will not be able to borrow from any TAFE NSW library until the item is returned, paid for or replaced.

Charges and penalties will be incurred for long overdue library items:

  • A $10 charge will be incurred for each item returned to the library after a Breach of Discipline notice has been issued.
  • Exam results and testamurs will be withheld.
  • You will be prevented from re-enrolling or graduating from any TAFE NSW college until all overdue charges have been paid.
  • An appeal may be lodged against the penalty imposed if you believe an error has been made.

How to renew/extend your library items

You can renew your library items twice:

  • If they are not reserved by someone else, and
  • Items are not overdue.

Renewals can be done in person, over the phone or online via ‘My Account’ in the library catalogue.

You will need your TAFEcard to renew your items.

Renewing online

To renew your library items online Go to 'My account – renew my materials' in the library catalogue. You will need your:

  • TAFEcard – you will use the barcode on the card
  • Library PIN (password).

If you do not have a library PIN please contact library staff. 

How to place a hold/reserve library items

If an item you want has been borrowed please ask staff to place a hold on it. We will contact you as soon as the item is returned.

You can view the status of your hold online via ‘My Account’ in the library catalogue. If you do not have a library PIN please go to the library service desk.

Interlibrary loans

If a course-related item is not held at our library, you may request an interlibrary loan. This means library staff will request the item from another TAFE NSW library on your behalf. Interlibrary loan requests should be made at the college library where you are enrolled.

Please allow up to ten working days for your item to arrive. When the item is available you will be contacted.
