Library orientation tours

Library orientation tours present an overview of the services and facilities provided by your Sydney TAFE library.

Catalogue tours

Catalogue tours include a library orientation, training and hands-on use of the TAFE NSW Library catalogue.

Research skills workshops

Research skills workshops are available throughout the term. They include a hands-on exercise following the theory to guide you through the information literacy process. These workshops are tailored to all subject areas and information needs and include:

  • Resources and how to find them
  • Effective internet searching
  • Search strategies
  • Evaluating websites
  • Bibliography, citations and referencing
  • Copyright and plagiarism
  • Internet safety – think before you click
  • Career development.

Online databases

The Library subscribes to various online databases covering many subjects. You can access journal articles, standards, eBooks and streamed video with your DEC username and password.

Training is provided on how to search these databases effectively to find information relevant to your needs.

Drop in sessions

Come along to our drop-in sessions that are advertised in the online library calendar. Sessions are held to help you research and reference assignments as well as access Moodle and DEC portal.
