About our courses
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) under the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), Sydney TAFE fully meets the requirements of the Australian VET Quality Framework.
On this page
The VET Quality Framework aims at achieving greater national consistency in the way providers are registered and monitored and in how standards in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector are enforced. Additionally industry and the community can have greater confidence in the quality and consistency of nationally-recognised (VET) qualifications. They can therefore also have greater confidence in the skills and abilities of VET graduates.
The VET Quality Framework is comprised of the following:
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is a quality assured national framework of qualifications in the school, vocational education and training (VET), and higher education sectors in Australia. All AQF courses offered by TAFE NSW are nationally recognised.
AQF qualifications promote lifelong learning and allow you to start at the level that suits you and then build up your qualifications and move between different education systems as your needs and interests develop and change over time. AQF qualifications link with each other in a range of learning pathways between schools, VET providers and higher education institutions.
Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015
The Standards ensure nationally-consistent, high-quality training and assessment services.
Fit and Proper Person Requirements
These ensure that persons who exercise a degree of control or influence over the management of the RTO are people in whom the public are can have confidence in their suitability to manage, or be involved with, an organisation that provides or assesses national qualifications.
Financial Viability Risk Assessment Requirements
The Financial Viability Risk Assessment Requirements aim to ensure that the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) has the necessary financial resources to operate and deliver quality training and/or assessment services throughout the registration period.
Data Provision Requirements
These ensure that RTO’s have adequate systems to capture and report on data against the agreed quality indicators.
Training packages are a key feature of Australia's national VET system. They are used as the basis for most of the programs delivered, including Australian Apprenticeships, training courses, VET in schools programs, recognition of existing skills, and occupational licensing. Training Packages specify the skills and knowledge required for different jobs within an industry. They are developed in consultation with industry and are updated regularly to ensure their currency and relevance. When you graduate with a nationally-recognised qualification from Sydney TAFE, you'll have gained skills and knowledge closely linked to your chosen industry's needs. Employers can be confident that you can perform tasks at a required industry standard.
