    Course description and aims

    Ever wanted to learn iOS application development? Be introduced to the fundamentals of object-orientated programming using Swift!

    If you have no programming experience this is the place to start. SwiftÂ’s syntax is easy to learn, read and understand and paired with Xcode it offers unparalleled simplicity, power and visualisation tools for grasping the essentials of programming.

    In this 2-Part course, Part 1 will cover:

    1. Understanding How Playground Works
    2. Simple Values (Data Types)
    3. Control Flows
    4. Functions and Closures
    5. Objects and Classes

    This 2-Part course is meant to provide a starting point for learning iPhone and iPad app development. After completing this course you become fully equipped to dive deep into our other Apple development courses.

    Course outcomes and careers

    Students may seek employment as junior developers, testers or support staff.

    Recommended Pathways

    Once completed the applicants can expect to become proficient in essentials of development with the Swift programming language. This is a recommended starting point for any aspiring mobile app developers and is a preferred pathway to our Develop iPhone Apps with Swift (Introductory) course

    INFORMATION SESSION

    Attend the following information session to meet with the teaching staff, discuss the course and get more information about enrolment and next steps.

    Wednesday, 7 February 2018 from 6:00pm at Ultimo College, Thomas Street Ultimo, Building G, Ground Level, Room GG.19.

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 9 hours of class over 3 days per week for 2 weeks. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30pm to 4:30pm; plus one full Saturday, 10:00am to 4:30pm.
