    Course description and aims

    This practical course is designed to introduce the learner to Special Effects Make-up for film, stage and events. The course will take the learner through appropriate WHS for make-up application and removal, a potted history of makeup styles and the creation of special effects for example aging, disfigurements like cuts, bruises and burns and the creation and application of simple prosthetic elements like horns and facial growths.

    About offering:

    Introduction to SFX Makeup for Film & Theatre course is offered as a part time 9 week short course. This course meets the needs of school leavers, career changers and learners that are looking to up-skill their professional expertise.

    We deliver 27 Face to Face teaching hours at the college over the duration of this part-qualification. We recommend an additional 27 hours be undertaken in unsupervised activities to complete this course. This represents approximately 3 additional hours per week bringing the total hours to complete this course to 54 hours.
