Library Job Readiness course details
Course description and aims
This short course offers some of the key skills required for library assistants including an introduction to the library and information industry, and tours of several libraries, including the State Library of NSW.
You will also learn how to write job applications, cover letters and resumes, as well as shelving and processing of library materials and basic computer applications.
Course outcomes and careers
This could lead to employment in libraries or information agencies as a library assistant, gaining a traineeship in a library, and the possible progression to further study at TAFE in the Certificate IV or Diploma in Library and Information Studies.
The three units studied in this short course form part of the Certificate III in Information and Cultural Services.
Students may wish to continue their studies by completing this course. These units of study are included as a part of a qualification on the current NSW Skills list.

You will need to attend approximately 7 hours of class per week over 10 weeks. Indicative Timetable: Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm
