    Course description and aims

    This short course, Essentials for Working in the Public Sector is aimed at people working within, or new to the public sector.
    This skill set provides an overview of the sector, an understanding of core public sector values and issues, and expectations relating to government services, communications, practices and processes.

    Designed to meet the industry standard for people working in a Public Sector environment, you will complete the following competencies:

    1. PSPLEG002: Encourage compliance with legislation in the public sector
    2. PSPGEN043: Apply government processes
    3. PSPETH001: Uphold the values & principles of public service
    4. PSPPCY004: Support policy implementation.

    Completion of this course provides a pathway into the Certificate IV in Government (PSP40116) with credit granted for these 4 units.

    Articulation

    Completion of this skill set contributes to most Certificate IV level government generalist and specialist qualifications. These units serve as a foundation for government qualifications and as an introduction to the Public Sector for new employees, team leaders or supervisors. Completion of this course provides a pathway into the Certificate IV in Government (PSP40116) with credit granted for these 4 units.

    You will need to attend approximately 5 hours of class a week over 1 day per 4 weeks. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: 4 x Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
