    Course description and aims

    This course is aimed at highly skilled senior managers who combine a broad range of hospitality skills with specialised managerial skills and substantial knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. It will teach you to operate with significant autonomy and be responsible for making strategic business management decisions.

    This qualification leads to a wide range of career options in any hospitality industry sector and for a diversity of employers including restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

    Area manager or operations manager, cafe owner or manager, club secretary or manager, executive/head chef, executive housekeeper, executive sous chef, food and beverage manager, motel owner or manager, rooms division manager.

    PAYMENT OPTIONS AND ASSISTANCE

    This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan (VSL). If you meet the VSL eligibility and academic suitability requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.

    The loan cap for this course is $5,000. This means the maximum amount you can borrow for each unit of study is $1,000, and you will need to directly pay the remaining $1,548 for each Unit of Study.

    The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality is studied over three semesters:
    Food & Beverage:
    Course Duration: average of 20 hours per week over one Semester (18 weeks)
    Rostered weekly for lunch and / or dinner shifts in our training restaurant called The Apprentice for up to 18 weeks.
    Theory units class held two days a week for 18 weeks plus additional attendance for work placement.
    Proposed Attendance: Core theory units on Monday 9:00am-5:30pm and Tuesday 09:00am-3:00pm
    Plus rostered restaurant service shifts on Wednesday either 09:30am-3:00pm or 4:00pm-9:30pm and Thursday either 09:30am-3:00pm or 4:00pm-9:30pm

    Accommodation Services:
    Course Duration: average of 20 hours per week over one Semester (18 weeks)
    One to two days a week learning Opera the hotel front office system for up to 18 weeks
    Theory unitÂ’s classes held on two days a week for 15 weeks plus additional attendance for work placement.
    Proposed Attendance: Core theory units on Monday 9:00am-5:30pm and Tuesday 09:00am-3:00pm
    plus Front Office class 08:00am-2:00pm Wed and Fri weeks 1 to 3 then every friday weeks 4-18

    Plus two days timetabled to complete RSA, Coach Jobs Skills and Hygiene.

    The third semester is two days studying higher level management units. Classes are normally held every Monday and Wednesday from 08:00am until 6:00pm on both days for 18 weeks.
