    Course description and aims

    Can you see yourself working as a beautician in a salon or behind the cosmetics counter of a department store or speciality boutique?

    In this course, youÂ’ll learn key beauty services skills including make-up, nail technology, lash and brow services and waxing techniques. YouÂ’re also taught how to demonstrate and sell retail skin care and other cosmetic products.

    Other Requirements

    This is a very practical course and as part of your training, you and the other students enrolled in the course will need to practise your new skills on each other. This will necessarily involve touch but thereÂ’s no need to worry. Your teacher will ensure it is always done safely and in accordance with industry codes of practice and ethics. There are also industry dress codes that apply.

    Articulation

    When you finish this course, you may be able to get advanced standing in other beauty qualifications, such as the Certificate II in Nail Technology, the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy and appropriate retail qualifications.

    Wednesday 21 June 2017 11:00am to 1:00pm or 4:00pm-6:00pm, at Gymea College, Cnr Hotham and the Kingsway, Gymea, Building A, Level 2 A2:35.

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 18 hours of class a week over 3 days per week. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Monday, 9:00am to 4:00pm; Wednesday, 9:00am to 4:00pm; Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm.

    A make up kit (approximate cost $495) and nail kit (approximate cost $95) will be required to successfully complete this course. You will receive the kit information at your first class. Additionally, as part of your assessment you will be required to do a photoshoot at the cost of $110.
