    Course description and aims

    This course aims to introduce beginners to a programming language, tools, and techniques in order to create software applications. The learner will develop applications using an Object-Oriented language.

    Topics covered include variables, data types, flow of control, procedures, input/output and data structures.

    Day 1: Programming syntax, structure, tools, and data types
    Day 2: Types of operators and methods/functions
    Day 3: Operators and selection control structure
    Day 4: Repetition control structure (looping)
    Day 5: Organizing related data

    Completing Coding in the classroom course will contribute 25 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

    Course outcomes and careers

    This is an endorsed NESA course. TAFE NSW is endorsed to provide NESA Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient level.

    INFORMATION SESSION

    An information session is to be held on Thursday 17 April 2017 from 5.00pm at Petersham College, 27 Crystal St Petersham, Building A, Level 1, Room A1.10.

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 5 hours of class over 1 day per week for 5 weeks. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Friday, 9:30am to 2.30pm.
