    Course description and aims

    The aim of this course is to provide teachers with the foundation skills to in develop, review, and maintain websites created using WordPress or Edublogs. WordPress started as a blogging site in 2003 and has evolved to become one of the worldÂ’s most popular content management system (CMS). Edublogs is an education platform based on WordPress.

    The course includes website development workflow from planning through to development, testing, review and maintenance. Students will create a website using the WordPress interface. No previous coding experience is required and the course will provide you with a basic understanding of HTML and CSS.

    Topics include:
    * Introduction to websites including domain names and web hosting
    * Working with WordPress - posts, pages, themes, widgets, plugins and more
    * Design considerations such as colour and typography to customise your site
    * Embedding media including images, sound and video

    Completing Web Development using WordPress will contribute 24 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

    Course outcomes and careers

    This is an endorsed NESA course. TAFE NSW is endorsed to provide NESA Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient level.
