Certificate III in Sterilisation Services
Sterilisation Services course details
Course description and aims
This course will give you the skills to perform many of the sterilising service procedures that are used in hospital and medical facilities. You will learn how to clean, disinfect and sterilise reusable medical devices; and store and distribute sterile goods for clinical use.
You will also pick up a lot of knowledge about the healthcare industry that may help you build your career. YouÂ’ll get more general skills in senior first aid, work health and safety, and working as part of a team. To complete some units of this course, you will need access to a sterilising service facility, either through your job or by another arrangement.
For students seeking to complete a First Aid unit of competency as part of their program, you must be able to perform basic life support skills, for example control bleeding and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). If you have a disability that would prevent you from performing required basic life support skills you are advised that you will not be able to achieve the unit of competency.
