    Course description and aims

    This course is aimed at financial planners who provide a range of standard financial planning services and specialist para-planning services. It is compliant with Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) regulations.

    Completion of this course allows the provision of advice in the following ASIC identified specialist knowledge areas, including financial planning, securities, superannuation, managed investments, derivatives, life and general insurance, and foreign exchange.

    Financial planning is a licensed occupation and core units in this program meet the ASIC requirements for Tier 1 status. Achieving the Diploma in Financial Planning will allow you to provide general advice in the specialist knowledge area of financial planning (as well as the requirements defined by RG146).

    Financial planner, Para-planner, Client advisor, Customer service (banking), Insurance administration advisor, Superannuation administration advisor, Managed investments administration advisor.

    Articulation

    Successful completion of this course may give entry to the Bachelor of Applied Finance (Financial Planning).

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class a week over 3 days. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00am to 4:00pm.

    PAYMENT OPTIONS AND ASSISTANCE

    This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan (VSL). If you meet the VSL eligibility and academic suitability requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.

    The loan cap for this course is $5000. This means the maximum amount you can borrow for each unit of study is $2587, and you will need to directly pay the remaining $920 for each Unit of Study.
