    Course description and aims

    This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have highly specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills in visual communication to conceive, negotiate and realise design solutions.

    Practice at this level is underpinned by the application of visual communication and design theory and history and the ability to critically analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources. Advanced communication, organisational and project management skills are also required.

    Practitioners may work in many different commercial and community contexts across both print and digital media.

    Entry requirements

    To enter this qualification, individuals must provide evidence of their ability to:
    - apply visual communication history and theory to own professional practice
    - produce professional typography
    - produce graphic designs for two-dimensional and three-dimensional applications
    - create and manipulate graphics and design complex publication layouts

    Skills and knowledge may have been acquired through graphic design work experience or through formal study.

    ILLUSTRATION:

    The Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design (Illustration) is unique to the Design Centre Enmore.
    Students will explore both tradition and contemporary digital Illustration techniques and skills delivered by some of AustraliaÂ’s most respected Illustrators and artists. Areas of instruction include the graphic novel, editorial, advertising, fashion, natural history, childrenÂ’s books, story boarding, concept art, animation, graphic design and e books.

    Graduates that have completed their Advanced Diploma might expect employment across a broad range of creative industries including professional and community arts, publishing, advertising, graphics, film and video practising as freelance Illustrators.

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 16 hours of class over 4 days a week for 1 year. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Tuesday to Friday, approximately 5 hours a day.

    Do you want a strong grounding in all aspects of graphic design at an advanced level to assist you in getting the job you want?

    The Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design will provide you with the opportunity to build a great portfolio, work on live briefs with industry professionals, and undertake a mentored internship. You will also study the business aspects of graphic design. The course culminates with an exhibition that is well attended by industry. Many of our graduates have gained employment directly from this event. This course is the perfect stepping stone to the start of a great career in graphic design.
    On successful completion, you will have developed the skills and knowledge for employment as a graphic designer, junior art director or studio manager, or to establish your own practice.

    This qualification provides an educational pathway to graduate studies in graphic design and other creative industries.

    This is an Advanced Entry offer, applicants should complete the Diploma of Graphic Design or equivalent study, or have previous graphic design employment experience before applying for this course. Applicants will be required to attend an interview and present a portfolio.

    Computers are provided for those classes where you are learning about software. It is recommended that you have your own laptop with industry standard software. Some materials and resources for printing and producing project work are provided onsite. There is no materials fee for this course. You will need to purchase your own additional materials and resources for project work.
