    Course description and aims

    This course is for construction workers who need to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding and associated equipment. Scaffolders plan, build and erect scaffolding and working platforms for construction projects, as well as building stands and tiered seating for public events such as concerts or sporting events.

    The course covers planning, erecting and dismantling modular and tubular scaffolding. You will learn how to build modular and coupler scaffolds, fall protection devices, catch platforms and bracket scaffolds. You will also learn about associated scaffolding operations.

    There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, before enrolling in this course you must successfully complete the WHS Induction Training (White Card) which will allow you entry into a construction worksite.

    Orientation session will be carried out during the first class at TAFE NSW Annandale, 299 Johnston Street, Annandale, Building C, Ground Floor.

    NOTE: Students must be 18 years of age to sit the HRW licence assessment.

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 3.5 hours of class a week over 2 evenings. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Monday and Wednesday OR Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30pm to 9:00pm.

    How to enrol or apply:

    If your employer has already signed you up as a trainee, you will be contacted by Sydney TAFE to complete your enrolment. You do not need to click on the Register button.

    If you are looking to become a trainee, or if you are an employer interested in traineeships for your workforce, click the Register button. A Sydney TAFE consultant will contact with you to provide more information about traineeships.

    SMART AND SKILLED FEES

    This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion (capped at $1,000) of the full course fee to Sydney TAFE and the government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

    Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
