    Course description and aims

This course is for apprentices who work in the painting and decorating trade.
You will learn about the processes, materials, tools and equipment used and
develop specialised skills associated with the surface coating industry.

You will also learn about the relationship of this trade to others in the
    building and construction industry.

    Course outcomes and careers

    Painter, decorator.

    Expected Outcomes

This qualification provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating for
    residential and commercial construction work.

    Occupational titles may include:

    - Painter and decorator.

The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common
skills for the construction industry, as well as two specialist fields of work.

The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading
to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated
workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to
    be delivered in this context.

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National
Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is
required before entering a construction work site.

Safety (OHS) and in some countries people know it as Occupational Safety and
Health (OSH). Please refer to the Work Health and Safety heading in Section B
6.1 Delivery Modes for more information.

TAFE NSW trainers and assessors must meet the requirements specified in the
Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations 2011: Part 2 SNR 4 & Part 3,
