    Course description and aims

    This course provides you with the necessary foundation skills and knowledge to
    satisfy statutory registration requirements under the NSW Property, Stock and
    Business Agents Act 2002 for a Certificate of Registration in Real Estate (Real
    Estate Salesperson - registered person) as required by the NSW Office of Fair
    Trading (OFT).

    You will learn about basic concepts, legal and statutory requirements, consumer
    and agency risk management awareness, agency procedures and processes, along
    with effective communication skills in exercising and performing the various
    functions of a certificate of registration holder (as defined by the Act) in the
    buying, selling, exchange, lease, management, assignment or otherwise disposal
    of any land or to collect rents etc.

    Course outcomes and careers

    Entry level real estate agency trainee, registered urban real estate operative,
    salesperson, property manager, assistant salesperson/property manager.

    Articulation

    Completion of this course provides you with advanced standing in a range of
    Property development, sales and management qualifications such as:

    Certificate III in Property Services (Agency)
    Certificate III in Property Services (Operations)
    Certificate IV in Property Services (Stock and Station Agency)
    Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate)

    Expected Outcomes

    This course is designed to meet the specific statutory registration requirements
    of the NSW Office of Fair Trading. As such it is designed to develop the
    learners' entry-level knowledge of the relevant industry PRIOR to commencing
    work for a licencee as a registered salesperson.

    On completion of this course learners will have an overview of the workings of
    the real estate industry in the urban context, providing them with the necessary
    skills and academic qualification to be able to function as operatives in the
    selling and management areas within the industry.

    They will be able to explain basic concepts and legal requirements related to
    the sale and management of property, and understand the requirements of customer
    protection legislation as it affects the operation of real estate agents and
    related transactions.

    KEY ALERT:
    =========
    On 1 January 2012 the Work Health Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) was implemented in
    NSW. Delivery and assessment of this course must be based on this legislation.

    Work Health and Safety (WHS) was referred to in NSW as Occupational Health and
    Safety (OHS) and in some countries people know it as Occupational Safety and
    Health (OSH). Please refer to the Work Health and Safety heading in Section B
    6.1 Delivery Modes for more information.

    TAFE NSW trainers and assessors must meet the requirements specified in the
    Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations 2011: Part 2 SNR 4 & Part 3,
    SNR 15.
