    About offering:

    An AMSA issued Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) is the mandatory minimum requirement in order to serve on board vessels in international waters. It is not possible to gain employment in the industry without this Certificate.
    This CoST course includes Security Awareness Training (SAT). SAT is required under recent International amendments, and is mandatory from 1 January 2014.
    The CoST certificate issued will be recognised by AMSA as meeting the International requirements.
    The following certificates will be issued to participants who successfully complete the course:
    Basic Safety Training (AMSA approved), meeting the requirements of:
    - Elementary First Aid (STCW Reg VI/1 and Code Section A-V1/1, Table A-VI/1-3)
    - Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW Reg VI/1 and Code Section A-V1/1, Table A-VI/1-2)
    - Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW Reg VI/1 and Code Section A-V1/1, Table A-VI/1-4)
    - Personal Survival Techniques (STCW Reg VI/1 and Code Section A-V1/1, Table A-VI/1-1)
    - Security Awareness Training (STCW Reg VI/6 and Code Section A-VI/6, Table A-VI/6-1)

    Indicative timetable:

    Full attendance and participation in ALL activities during the course will satisfy the required performance criteria as per AMSA requirements

    How to enrol or apply:

    GET YOUR UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)

    Before you enrol you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Visit http://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi to request a USI. Remember to add Sydney TAFE to your account via the Manage Permissions page (code: 90003, name: TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute).

    Fee information:

    ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

    Full payment of the course fee is required 3 days prior to the start of the class.
    Refund of the course fee is only due in the following circumstances-
    * TAFE NSW has cancelled the course you were enrolled in, or
    * You formally advise the campus in writing at least 7 days prior to the start of your course that you are withdrawing.
    In any other circumstances, full or partial refund of the course fee is at the discretion of the campus delegate.
    ‘If you are travelling from interstate or overseas, please ensure that you book your flights on a fully refundable basis.
    Sydney TAFE reserves the right to cancel the course if insufficient registrations have been receive seven days from commencement of the course.

    Recognition is a process of acknowledging previously completed qualifications, skills, knowledge or experience relevant to your course. This may reduce the amount of learning required, reduce your course fees and allow you to achieve your qualification faster.
