    Course description and aims

    Looking to expand your object-orientated programming skills into the world of web development?
    This course is intended for developers with experience in the java programming language and having completed the Develop WebApps with Java (Introductory) course.
    Here you combine your skills learnt from introductory and start building web applications using java in the server side.
    We will teach you:
    1. IntelliJ IDEA IDE editor
    2. MVC Spring Framework
    3. Bootstrap Framework
    4. Thymeleaf template engine
    5. Hibernate ORM (Object Relational Mapper).
    This course will provide a starting point for learning the basics of Web development using java as a programming language and Spring MVC framework + Thymeleaf + Hibernate ORM.

    Once completed the applicants can expect to become proficient in essentials of web development using the java programming language. You will acquire a well-rounded knowledge of Java EE Architecture.

    Having completed Introduction to Object Oriented programming in Java is required. Alternatively, if you have extensive programming experience in another object-oriented language and are familiar with basics of java and HTML and CSS development we may waive this requirement.

    Attend the following information session to meet with the teaching staff, discuss the course and get more information about enrolment and next steps.

    Wednesday 4 October 2017 from 6:00pm at Ultimo College, Thomas Street Ultimo, Building G, Ground Level, Room GG.19.

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 9 hours of class a week for 4 weeks. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Wednesday and Friday 6:00pm to 9:00pm, plus two full Saturdays 10:00am to 4:30pm.
