Course description and aims
Thanks to the release of the next generation Apple object-oriented language called Swift, there has never been a better time to become an Apple developer.
Swift is an open-source, general-purpose, multi-platform, compiled programming language that has taken the best bits from Java, C#, php, Python, Ruby and combined it in a modern, elegant & easy to master fully fledged object-oriented, functional, imperative, scripting (both client & server side) language. It can compile and run on any Apple device as well as Linux machines. An important feature of Swift is optional types which makes it the most secure language on the planet.
SwiftÂ’s syntax is easy to learn, read and understand and paired with Apples superior editor (Playground) it offers unparalleled simplicity, power and visualisation tools for grasping essentials of programming. As part of this course, you will learn Simple Values (Data Types), Control Flows, Functions and Closures, Objects and Classes, Enumerations and Structures, Protocols and Extensions, Error Handling, and Generics.
This is meant to provide a starting point for learning iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac OS App development. After completing this course you become fully equipped to dive deep into our other Apple development courses, and can expect to become proficient in essentials of development with the Swift programming language.

Thursday, 9 February 2018 at 6:00pm at Ultimo College, Thomas Street Ultimo, Building G, Ground Level, Room GG.19.
You will need to attend approximately 9 hours of class over 3 days a week for 4 weeks. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00pm to 9:00pm plus two Saturdays, 10:00am to 4:30pm.
