    Course description and aims

    This is an introductory class for participants to learn the basics of wheel-throwing techniques such as centring, shaping and trimming. Participants
    will learn basic methods to glaze decorate and fire their works, and there will be an opportunity to participate in ceramic design studio market days and
    exhibitions.

    INFORMATION SESSION

    Attend the following information session to meet with the teaching staff, discuss the course and get more information about enrolment and next steps.

    Tuesday 4 April from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Sutherland College, Gymea Campus, Cnr The Kingsway & Hotham Road, Gymea, Building A, Lower Ground Floor, Ceramics Studio 1.

    Indicative timetable:

    You will need to attend approximately 3.5 hours of class a week over 1 day per week for 9 weeks. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Thursday, 10:00am to 1:30pm.

    How to enrol or apply:

    GET YOUR UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)

    Before you enrol you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Visit http://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi to request a USI. Remember to add Sydney TAFE to your account via the Manage Permissions page (code: 90003, name: TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute).

    ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

    A Basic Ceramic Tool Kit will be required to successfully complete this course and can be purchased at your 1st class for $15.00. If you go on to further study you may decide to extend this tool kit with extra paint brushes, tools and specialist paints.
