Dog Training course details
Course description and aims
This course will provide you with an approach to understanding and controlling
dog behaviour. You will attain knowledge of the theory behind dog training and
the ability to apply it humanely. You will also gain an understanding of the
human/dog bond and various strategies to enhance this bond.
This course will also provide a sound basis for participants wishing to enter
professional dog training, professional dog handling or competitive dog sports.
Course outcomes and careers
This course provides the skills and knowledge to:
- understand and control dog behaviour
- identify the theory behind dog training and the ability to apply it humanely
- understand the human/dog bond and various strategies to enhance this bond
- maintain occupational health and safety (OHS) processes
- monitor health and maintain welfare of dogs in training
- engage in professional dog training, dog handling or competitive dog sports
These competencies have been identified as meeting industry
requirements for the skills necessary for dog training.
Enrol at any location
You will need to attend approximately 13 hours of class a week over 8 weeks. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is:
Wednesday, 6:00pm to 9:30pm at Ultimo campus
Thursday, 6:00pm to 9:30pm at Ultimo campus and then Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm at Royal Rover Bringelly.
If you choose a flexible delivery course you will study in both the classroom and through online or distance learning. How much is delivered in which way depends on your specific course.
